Our Story

We are Rebecca and Robert Church, a husband and wife team married for 22 years that started Nature's Parlor LLC in 2024, trying to follow our dream of being homesteaders. We became empty nesters in 2022 and moved to South Carolina. We had lived all over the country, but South Carolina's beautiful scenery, polite and friendly people, and a moderate climate with a long growing season made it an easy choice to plan to stay permanently.

When we first moved to South Carolina, we were both working long hours at stressful jobs, and decided to make a plan to eventually get away from the rat race. We bought a small 2 acre property that we could turn into our homestead. We excitedly planted our first organic garden this year so we can rely less on the grocery store, and have access to healthier food free of pesticides.

Robert finally got the woodworking shop he has wanted for many years. He began making the custom woodworking he always dreamed of making, starting with beautiful planters and garden obelisks.

Rebecca began making soap 12 years ago to help her daughter's eczema skin problems. She quickly realized that she loved making lye soap, and that it was a far better way to clean skin that the detergents sold in the stores. Our family and friends have been getting handmade soap for birthdays and Christmas for many years. They always report back that it is the best soap that they have ever used.

Ideally, homesteaders are able to support themselves from their farming activities, but in this day and age, because of property taxes, insurance, and the cost of everything being so high, Robert and Rebecca knew that they would need supplemental income, if they were going to be able to homestead full time. So, they started Nature's Parlor in the hopes that Robert's woodworking and Rebecca's soapmaking would lead them to their dream of self sufficiency!

Tabitha and Kyra are grown up young ladies now and on their own journeys. We miss them, but love being empty nesters at the same time!
